I scream.

You scream! We all scream for ice-cream!

There's a new challenge over on the Hanna and Friends Challenge Blog
For this challenge, we want you to create something 'From the Kitchen'

Here in Texas, it is still hotter than hot. I refuse to turn on the oven and heat up the house so we tend to stick with the cooler side of cooking. It won't be long until we are busting out soups and stews but for now, it's still ice cold snacks. Hence, the ice-cream coming 'From my Kitchen'. :)

I used Simon Says Stamp August Card Kit to put this card together. Everything I used was included in this kit with the exception of the vellum, the embossing powder (Stampin' Up) and Stazon ink. This card measures 4.25 square so it still fits nicely in an A2 envelope and I can have a bit hanging off the side.

I stamped my ice-cream cones out and colored them with my Prismacolor pencils. Then I added Glossy Accents to the ice-cream part and, once that was dry, I fussy cut them out. I used the background stamp included in the set to create the embossed pattern on my oval (Nestabilities) and backed it with vellum.

On the inside, I used more of the ice-cream cones and put them together in a less structured way.

Thanks for looking! I hope this finds you happy and healthy.

An apple a day... (CIC277)

It's time for another challenge over at Cupcake Inspirations! Come on over and join us. :)

This week our challenge is sponsored by 7 Kids College Fund.
7 Kids is offering our randomly drawn winner a $20 gift certificate!

Wow! Thank you so much, 7 Kids College Fund

This week our challenge to you is Back to School!!

Apple Cupcakes by iVillage
This is for my goddaughter who started back to school recently. I'm a little behind on my cards because of how sick I have been. It's good to be creating again.

I used this 'Geekin' It' stamp from Saturated Canary. I love Krista's images; they're just fantastic and so much fun to color. I stamped her out with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored her up with my Copic markers.

I used Echo Park's Cut and Paste paper pad. My Neenah Desert Storm card base is 5.5 inches square. I used some ABC twill from my stash (you can't really tell because it knotted the wrong way) and tied a embroidery thread bow around my charm to hold it on. I added Glossy Accents to her glasses and button on her shoe.

Thanks for looking! I hope this finds you happy and healthy.

So sick and tired of...

...being so sick and tired. I have been out of commission for most of two weeks. Between a sick kid and then me getting it, I haven't been able to craft in what amounts to months in my eyes! :) When you are used to doing at least a little something everyday and you haven't been able to craft in almost two weeks, it feels like a VERY long time. But I'm back and on my way to healthy again. I still have a little ways to go but it's a little better everyday.

While I was out,  I missed two of my GD spot on the #99 "CAS" challenge on the FairyTale Challenge blog and the #204 "Special Card" Challenge Hanna and Friends Challenge blog. Here is a card I created for both.

This is for my in-laws' wedding anniversary this week.

I used Lil Inker Designs' set called 'It's today, right?'. I stamped it in Versafine Black Onyx ink and then forgot about that and used my Copics to color in the dress and flower. The ink bled a little bit so I won't be forgetting that again. :) The inside sentiment is from the same set with the same ink. I do love the crispness that Versafine provides for images like this. Makes them look professional in my opinion.

Thanks for looking! I hope this finds you happy and healthy.

It's back to school time! I'm excited, can you tell? I love having my kids home for the summer but these last weeks of summer have been hard. I think they're just as ready to go back as I was to take them. :)

It's a new 'Anything Goes' challenge over at Sister Act! I hope you will come over and join us.
Our sponsor this week is Fitztown

Thank you so much for sponsoring our challenge, Fitztown

We have our first male teacher this year so I created this card that my daughter could write a first day note in and give to him. I wanted it school-themed but not girly...that was more challenging than I thought but I think I accomplished the goal. She loved and he did too, especially what she wrote to him. :)

I used the Cut and Paste line by Echo Park and matted those together with some vellum (over the scissors, backpack, etc paper). I then tied some abc twill ribbon I have had forever and added my Tim Holtz grungeboard letters on top of that.

I really like the way that it came out.

Thanks for looking! I hope this finds you happy and healthy.

What the....

It's a dear friend of mine's forty birthday today! Happy birthday, Amy!! You are generous and kind and I feel lucky to call you friend. I hope the next forty go as well as the first forty.

I made this card using CAS-ual Friday's stamp set WTF. This set is great. I know that it's a little in your face with the letters but I think it is really attention getting in a good way. This set speaks to me and about me. :)

I stamped all my images in Versafine Black Onyx ink. I used a Fiskars stamping board to get the placement just right. I added gold and silver sequins randomly in groups. Not sure if I'm done adding sequins yet or not, haven't/can't decide.

On the inside is another sentiment from the set stamped in the same ink. Sorry about the picture...my two year old wanted to help. :)

Thanks for looking! I hope this finds you happy and healthy.

Steampunk?

The new challenge over at Cardz 4 Guyz is STEAMPUNK!
I hope you will come over and join in the fun. :)

So, this is my very first attempt at steampunk. Go easy on me. :)

I used a freebie image from Beyond the Fringe. I colored him up using my Prismacolor pencils; only three! The 'Riveted' background image is also from Beyond the Fringe. I broke out my Walnut distress ink (haven't used those in FOREVER) and distressed all my edges. Then I topped the background with vellum slightly larger than my first piece. Fussy cut my main image out and attached it only in the middle of the body so that the arms could stick out a bit from the card front. I added a Tim Holtz gear and Glossy Accents to one of his eyes (My pencil/marker bled a little). Thought that looked pretty cool.

Thanks for looking! I hope this finds you happy and healthy.

Lovely Little Lady (GD Gig #8)

I have been asked to join the Fitztown Challenge team for their #50 'Banners' challenge.
I am so excited.
And I always forget to use banners so this was a great reminder of how many uses they have. :)

I used a Fitztown Cameo. They have so many gorgeous options. Lovely, lovely ladies. I colored her up using my Prismacolor pencils and a few Copic markers. The designer paper is the Hip Hip Hooray collection by American Crafts and the mats are Stampin' Up's Melon Mambo. The card base is Sahara Sand. I used some twine in my stash for my banners. I made the banners out of my Stampin' Up scallop and 1 3/8 punches. The glitter letters are also from my stash. I used a pearl for her earring that I got in the Micheals dollar area a couple weeks ago. I am always forgetting to use stuff like that but she just called out for a fancy earring. :)

Thanks for looking! I hope this finds you happy and healthy.
